Man eliminated in Knaphill abduction bid case

A 47-year-old man arrested by police investigating the attempted abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Surrey has been eliminated from their inquiries.

The man, from Chertsey, was arrested on 18 May in connection with a number of incidents in Knaphill, Woking. He was later bailed.

Surrey Police said he had now been ruled out of the inquiry and his bail had been cancelled.

The girl was approached by a man in a green vehicle in Inkerman Road.

A 27-year-old man was arrested two days after the incident on 13 May and bailed until 11 July pending inquiries.

Officers are also investigating possible links between the incident and two others involving five-year-old and 10-year old girls in the same village.

A spokeswoman said no further incidents had been reported since.
