Third girl in Knaphill approached by man in vehicle

A 12-year-old girl has been approached by a man in a green vehicle in a Surrey village days after two similar incidents involving five-year-olds.

Police said the girl was approached in Inkerman Road, Knaphill, at 08:00 BST.

A man in a green vehicle spoke to two five-year-old girls in separate incidents in the same village on 4 May and 5 May.

A spokeswoman said officers were investigating possible links between the incidents.

Schools contacted

The five-year-olds were approached separately.

One was offered £1 in Knaphill High Street by a man in a green vehicle.

The other was spoken to by a man in a green vehicle in Nursery Road.

Police have stepped up patrols in the Knaphill area and have contacted local schools.

Officers appealed to any witnesses or anyone who saw a green vehicle being driven suspiciously in the village to come forward urgently.

"We are following up a number of lines of inquiry, but any assistance would be gratefully received," said Det Chief Insp Karen Mizzi.
