Man held over carjacking near M3 in Sunbury-on-Thames

A man from Surrey has been arrested after a 69-year-old man was attacked and had his car stolen in a lay-by near junction one of the M3.

The victim, from Roehampton, was parked off the A316 Country Way, in Sunbury-on-Thames, at 02:50 GMT when the carjacking happened.

A man approached him, hit him around the head with an unknown object and then stole his car.

A 31-year-old man from Staines has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He has been bailed until 9 January while investigations continue.
