Carjacking near M3 in Sunbury-on-Thames

A 69-year-old man suffered head injuries when he was the victim of a carjacking in Surrey.

The man had pulled into a layby off the A316 Country Way, just north of junction one of the M3 in Sunbury-on-Thames, at 02:50 GMT.

Surrey Police said the motorist was making a phone call when a man approached his Kia Magentis and struck him twice with an unknown weapon.

Det Con Dion O'Shea described the attacker as "desperate and dangerous".

The victim, from Roehampton, had been travelling to London. He was treated for cuts to his head by paramedics at the scene.
