Review into Surrey's 'hotch-potch' bus network

The final stage of a review into Surrey's "hotch-potch" bus services is under way.

Surrey County Council said it needed to "go back to the drawing board" and find out where services were most needed.

The review covers Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley, Guildford and Waverley. Any changes will take effect in September 2012.

Councillor Ian Lake, the cabinet member for transport, said it cost £11m to subsidise bus routes in 2009.

He said: "Surrey's bus services became a hotch potch of different routes over the years, which has resulted in full buses on some routes and empty ones on others."
