Guildford street attack victim in intensive care
A 20-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after an attack in a Surrey town.
Surrey Police said the man was assaulted near the junction of Mill Lane and Quarry Street in Guildford in the early hours of Sunday.
He is currently being treated in intensive care, where his condition is described as stable.
Officers are trying to trace two men who helped the victim and called the emergency services.
Det Con Jacqueline Green, of Surrey Police, said: "This was a particularly nasty incident which has left a young man with very serious injuries.
"The two men who came to his assistance could have information vital to the ongoing investigation and we would ask them to come forward immediately."
Police said the suspect was said to be white, aged 20 to 24 and 5ft 9ins to 6ft tall.
He had short brown hair and was wearing a red hooded jumper.
