Parked lorries targeted for fuel in Surrey layby

Lorries parked in a layby in Surrey overnight have been targeted by fuel thieves.

The suspects were seen siphoning diesel from the vehicles parked off the A322 in Bagshot, but they fled before police arrived at 0030 GMT.

Officers discovered a half-filled container of diesel with a siphon device still attached to the fuel tank of a lorry, and a further full barrel.

A red Toyota Previa with eight plastic barrels inside had also been abandoned.

Police said two lorries had been targeted. One was left with an empty tank while the other lost about £50 worth of diesel.
