Armed officers called to Surrey house alert

Armed response officers were sent to a Surrey house following reports of suspicious activity, possibly involving a gun.

Surrey Police said three people were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis at a building in Adelaide Road, Ashford on Tuesday.

Armed officers and a negotiator were deployed after it was reported that a man at the house was seen with a gun.

The force said it carried out a detailed search and no guns were found.

Officers were first called to the property at about 1200 GMT and a man was arrested at the rear of the building.

A number of roads in the area remain closed while a police investigation takes place.
