Trains services in Surrey return to normal

Passenger services across Surrey have returned to normal following the recent severe weather, rail firms have said.

Both Southern Railways and South West Trains said they were running their usual Sunday timetables.

They also said full weekday rail services in the county would also go ahead on Monday.

Surrey Police warned motorists to watch out for patches of ice, especially in rural areas, as temperatures dropped overnight.

Both rail firms said there were planned engineering works on some routes.

Andy Pitt, managing director of South West Trains, said: "Our staff have been working tirelessly in partnership with Network Rail to keep our trains moving.

"Thanks to their efforts, we are pleased to be able to restore full service tomorrow and would once again like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during these difficult weather conditions."
