Burglars steal World War II medals from Ewell veteran
Burglars have stolen several medals from a World War II veteran in Surrey.
Police said offenders gained entry to the man's home in The Kingsway, Ewell, on Thursday afternoon, and took medals, wedding rings, coins and paperwork.
The 88-year-old victim was at home during the burglary but was not disturbed during the incident.
Det Con Kevin Booth said: "The medals were awarded to this gentleman for his service to this country and it is deplorable someone has stolen them."
He said the medals included an Atlantic Star and a Band of Hope.
Anyone who is offered the medals for sale is urged to contact the force.
