Surrey Christmas crime alert targets burglary hotspots

Tens of thousands of postcards are being sent to people in Surrey warning them about burglars and asking them to report crime.

Surrey Police said more than 15,000 postcards were being distributed in areas of known burglary activity in the month leading up to Christmas.

Officers will also be knocking on the doors of known burglars.

Surrey Crimestoppers said domestic burglary in the county increased by about 23% during the winter months.

Supt Ian Chandler said the most prolific burglars in Surrey could expect a visit from police.
