Seven arrested over street brawls in Dorking

Seven people have been arrested in connection with mass brawls between two groups in Dorking in Surrey.

One man was chased and then repeatedly kicked and punched as he lay on the ground during the violence on the High Street in the early hours of Sunday.

Surrey Police said the 19-year-old local man was taken to hospital but discharged himself.

The force said seven people had been arrested and it was viewing CCTV images to identify people involved.

Det Sgt Glenn Parker said: "We have good quality CCTV images of the disorder which is actually quite difficult to watch as it shows a man being repeatedly kicked and punched as he lay on the floor.

"The community can be assured detectives are thoroughly investigating the events of the incident and will work hard to bring those responsible to justice.

"We are also working in tandem with local licensees to establish if any of those involved in the disorder had been drinking in one of the town's pubs."

Surrey Police have asked anyone with information about the incidents to contact officers.
