Public toilets in Epsom and Ewell to remain closed

Three public toilets in a Surrey borough are to remain closed as a money saving measure.

The conveniences in Epsom and Ewell were originally shut in February by the borough council.

There was a council motion to overturn the decision but at a meeting, members voted to keep them closed in light of government cuts to its funding.

They said it would save £21,000 a year and had negotiated with businesses to allow people to use their facilities.

The council said it was a tough decision to make, but in the present financial climate, it was the correct one.
