Police officer bitten by dog during Surrey drug search
A police officer was bitten by a dog as he tried to arrest two people on suspicion of drug offences.
Surrey Police said the officer was attacked by an Alsatian when he attempted to search a house in Randalls Crescent in Leatherhead.
Extra officers arrived following the incident on Thursday and a bag containing 23 packages of what is believed to be cannabis was discovered.
A 29-year-old local man was fined for possession of a class B drug.
A man and woman, both aged 33, and also from Leatherhead, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and released on police bail.
Supt Matt Bristow, of Surrey police, said: "This is a classic example of the professionalism displayed by each and every Surrey Police employee on a day-to-day basis.
"The officer involved did a great job to persist despite his injuries following the dog bite and as a result two people were arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply."
