Lowestoft man appears in court on firearm charge after police raid

A man arrested after 60 homes were evacuated following a police raid on a flat in Suffolk has appeared in court, charged with a firearm offence.

Police had said grenades and chemicals were found at a home in Lowestoft last weekend.

Clinton Hicks, 59, of Normanshurst Close, Lowestoft, appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Mr Hicks has been remanded to appear at the town's crown court on 2 September. No application for bail was made.

He was charged with section 5 (1-ABA) of the firearms act on Friday.
