A man in his 80s, who died after being found with serious injuries in a house, had been in recent contact with Suffolk Police, the force said.

A woman, 52, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of the man, at a house in Lowestoft.

Police were called to Kirkley Run at about 20:50 GMT, but paramedics could not save him.

The police have referred the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The woman remains in custody and is being questioned by police.

Police have appealed for anyone with details about what happened to come forward.

Suffolk Police said the referral to the IPCC was a "routine procedure because there had been recent police contact with the victim prior to his death".
