Ipswich man Brian Callaghan charged with child sex offences

A man has pleaded not guilty to 16 child sex offences, including three counts of rape.

Brian Callaghan, 78, of Waterford Road, Ipswich, has also been charged with child cruelty, administering a drug with intent and threatening or intimidating a woman to have sex.

He is alleged to have committed the offences against two girls, a boy and a woman between 1975 and 1990.

Mr Callaghan is due to stand trial at Ipswich Crown Court in October.

He faces three charges of rape against a child aged under 16, four of indecent assault against a child aged under 14 and nine of gross indecency committed against a child under 14.

He is also charged with two counts of administering a drug with intent, two of child cruelty and one count of threatening or intimidating a woman to have sexual intercourse.
