Orwell Country Park body identified as Gavin Francis

A body found in reed beds near Ipswich last week has been identified as a man who went missing on New Year's Eve.

The body was found on Thursday by a member of the public near the riverbank at Orwell Country Park.

Police said it was Gavin Francis, 44, whose bicycle was found near the Orwell Bridge on 2 January.

Officers said there were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Mr Francis, who lived at Purdis Farm in Ipswich, was last seen leaving his home to go for a bike ride at about 17:45 GMT on 31 December.

His family and the coroner have been informed, police said.
