A police hunt has been launched after a man was found with a shotgun wound to his leg in Suffolk.

The victim, in his twenties, was found by a member of the public in Cordy's Lane, in Trimley St Mary, near Felixstowe, about 13:00 GMT.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, police said.

Det Insp Darryl Skuse said: "We do not believe that this was a random attack...we think the victim may have been known to the offenders."

The injured man was taken to Ipswich Hospital. Neighbouring police forces have been alerted in the hunt for those responsible.

It is thought they could be travelling in a Renault Clio.

Mr Skuse added: "Officers will now be doing all they can to find those responsible and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who has any information to contact us as soon as possible."
