Three arrests have been made following a ram raid at a post office during which robbers had water thrown over them by the owner.

Raiders were confronted by the owner of Broadway Stores in Glemsford during the robbery on Sunday.

Suffolk Police said the suspects were also being questioned about other burglaries.

A 29-year-old from Beccles, a 47-year-old from Great Cornard and a 27-year-old homeless man, have been detained.

A stolen Toyota Hilux was used to break open the front door at the store at about 04:30 GMT.

The bottom half of an empty cash machine was dragged out on a rope and then the raiders drove off in another car.
