Bodies found next to car near Martlesham not suspicious

The deaths of a man and a woman found in a car in a lay-by in Suffolk on Friday morning are not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

The bodies were found by a man in Martlesham lying next to a Mitsubishi car on a farm track off Newbourne Road.

Post-mortem examinations carried out on Saturday were inconclusive and further tests will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

The man and woman, both in their 40s, came from the Ipswich area.

"Whilst the deaths continue to be treated as unexplained, there are no injuries to the bodies and no evidence of any third-party involvement," a police spokeswoman said.

Police will be carrying out further inquiries in order to present a full report to the coroner.
