Farmers' relief over bumper apple harvest


Fruit farmers have begun their harvest weeks early, relieved that the spring drought did not cause widespread damage as feared.

Fourteen weeks ago ago many farmers were in despair as crops struggled or failed to germinate in parched conditions, but July's higher than average rainfall came to the rescue.
