The majority Conservative group at Suffolk County Council has elected a new leader.

Mark Bee will now be proposed as the new leader of the authority at the full council meeting on 26 May.

He replaces Jeremy Pembroke who stepped down earlier this month. Mr Bee said he would resign from his position as leader of Waveney District Council.

He said he wanted to take a step back and review Suffolk County Council's new strategic direction programme.

"With services such as libraries, household waste recycling, school and college transport, we need to take time to consider the implications before we make the final decisions," he said.
