Arrest over after Stoke mother and baby hit-and-run

A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run which left a teenager and her baby daughter seriously injured.

Staffordshire Police said the 26-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on Thursday and was being questioned.

The 17-year-old mother and her one-year-old daughter were struck in Cobridge on Tuesday.

They were in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

The force revealed that a silver VW Jetta, believed to have been involved in the crash, was found off Nevada Lane, just off Sneyd Hill near to the Burslem campus of Stoke-on-Trent College.

The crash happened at Waterloo Road, near the junction with Hawthorne Street.
