An outbreak of norovirus has forced a hospital to close three wards.

Seventy-seven beds at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent are out of use while health bosses deal with the problem.

They are urging people who are not seriously ill to stay away from the site if possible.

The winter vomiting bug norovirus is more contagious than the common cold and can be more severe for vulnerable patients, a statement said.
