Staffordshire voluntary sector to receive £800,000

The voluntary sector in Staffordshire is to receive £800,000 over three years from the county council.

Three groups would have a brief to help develop the sector and back projects such as community gardening and library volunteering, the authority said.

The council said it would focus on "connecting those who need support with those who are able to help".

Council deputy leader Ian Parry said where there was "mutual interest" the authority may be able to help.

The groups set to benefit are Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services, an umbrella organisation supporting more than 140 voluntary youth organisations in the county; Support Staffordshire and South Staffordshire Community and Voluntary Action.
