Drug charge after Burslem alley death

A man has been charged with producing cannabis following an investigation into the sudden death of a 52-year-old.

Aleksas Malachovskis is due in court after a large number of cannabis plants were found in Wilson Street, Burslem.

Officers made the discovery while investigating the death of Arturas Eidikis, who was found dead in an alleyway in Louise Street on Thursday.

Mr Malachovskis, 28, is due before North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

He has also been charged with theft concerning the abstraction of electricity.

Police have said they no longer believe there are suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Eidikis' death.

The force had previously made an arrest on suspicion of attempted murder after he was found with head injuries.

Further tests will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
