M6 Toll wrong-way lorry driver banned from road

A haulier who drove his lorry the wrong way down the M6 Toll motorway and performed three u-turns has been banned from the road for 18 months.

Istvan Balla, 54, from Hungary, admitted dangerous driving at Cannock Magistrates' Court.

He was also sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, during the hearing on Thursday.

Central Motorway Policing Group officers were called after drivers reporting Balla's actions.

He was detained after making the manoeuvres between junction T4 and Weeford Plaza, near Lichfield.
