Burton-on-Trent fire station: Work begins on £3.8m rebuild
Work has begun to build a new £3.8m community fire station in Staffordshire.
The station in Moor Street, Burton-on-Trent will replace an existing one, which was opened in 1973.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service said the new station should open at the end of 2015 or early in 2016.
The service is rebuilding 10 stations in the county, and building one new station, using £45m of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) funding.
Fire crews will continue to operate from the same site using temporary "decamp station" facilities while the building work is carried out, the fire service said.
