Arrests after Port Vale and Barnsley fans involved in 'disorder'
Five men were arrested after disorder between a "significant number" of Port Vale and Barnsley fans, police have said.
Staffordshire Police said one officer was injured and missiles were thrown at others after the teams' League One game at Vale Park on Saturday.
A 20-year-old Barnsley man arrested for criminal damage and public order offences remains in custody, they said.
Four other men, from Barnsley and Pontefract, have been released on bail.
They were arrested after police were called to reports before the match of a "large group engaged in disorder" in Market Street at about 13:30 BST, the force said.
Two were arrested for affray, one for violent disorder and one for public order offences.
Police said there were also clashes between fans at Stoke railway station at about 18:00 BST, but no arrests were made.
Officers will trawl CCTV footage to find those involved, they said.
The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Port Vale after a late winner from Mark Marshall.
