Plans to build houses on Stoke City FC's old Victoria Ground have been revealed.

Developer St Modwen and Persimmon Homes have submitted plans to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to build 113 houses.

St Modwen said it hoped the scheme would create 150 construction jobs and bring £1.5m to the local economy.

The site has been vacant since the football club moved to the Britannia Stadium in 1997. A plan to build offices there was shelved in 2004.

In 2007, St Modwen put the Campbell Road site forward for housing but said it had not got any offers because the market had changed as a result of the recession.
