Pc hit while directing traffic in Burton-upon-Trent

A female police officer had to be taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle while directing traffic.

A broken-down lorry was blocking a lane on the A38 southbound at Shobnall, Burton-upon-Trent, on Saturday afternoon.

The police officer was hit by what police described as "an out-of-control vehicle" and knocked into a verge.

She was taken to Burton's Queen's Hospital with head and leg injuries, which were not serious.
