Home safety scheme for rural residents in Staffordshire
A new scheme has begun in Staffordshire to help older people stay in their own homes for as long as possible.
The project Staying Safe in the Home is funded by the county council.
Joanna Wright, from the North Staffs Carers Association, said it was particularly aimed at people over 50 in isolated, rural areas.
She said it was a preventative measure offering advice on matters ranging from fire safety to dealing with anti-social behaviour.
Ms Wright said: "My job is to go out there and tell older people what's available to them to make their home and life safer."
