The roof of a house has collapsed on to a road in Stoke-on-Trent, leaving the premises unsafe.

Surrounding properties were cleared after the fire service was called to Bath Street, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 0120 BST on Sunday.

No-one was injured or trapped and there were no signs of any fire or explosion.

An extensive amount of the roof had collapsed, the fire service said. The cause was being investigated and an assessment of damage carried out.

A structural engineer attended in the night and a further assessment of the damage and any building safety work was scheduled to take place later.

Two fire engines, from Hanley and Longton, were sent to the scene in the early hours and crews left the incident at about 0230 BST.
