A huge fire has broken out near a hospital in Sheffield.

About 40 firefighters are tackling the blaze, which started before 19:45 GMT, at a MOT Centre on Herries Road, near the Northern General Hospital.

Houses nearby have been evacuated after a number of cylinders were found inside the building. A 200m cordon has been put in place, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. An investigation is to be launched.
