Second absconded HMP Hatfield prisoner returned to jail

A violent robber who absconded from a South Yorkshire jail has been arrested after two weeks on the run.

Darrel Bryce, 31, is believed to have left HMP Hatfield, an open prison near Doncaster, on 28 March with fellow inmate Jeremiah St Phorose.

South Yorkshire Police said he was arrested in Hertfordshire on Sunday.

Bryce, originally from Nottinghamshire, is serving a life sentence for robbery and possession of a firearm.

St Phorose, 27, and originally from East Yorkshire was arrested on Friday in Hull. He is serving a life sentence for offences including burglary and wounding.

Both men have been returned to prison, the force said.
