Car search over Sheffield New Year's Eve street attack death
A car is being sought after a man died following a street attack in Sheffield.
Police believe Zabair Hussain was attacked by a group armed with baseball bats and hit by a vehicle in Staniforth Road, Darnall, on New Year's Eve.
A potential "dispute" between Mr Hussain, 41, and his attackers is said to be a line of inquiry, with police "open minded" about what it involved.
They want to trace a grey Peugeot 307 with the number plate MC57 BZP. Three men have been arrested over the death.
Sanna Hussain, his niece, said his death had "torn us apart and left our hearts broken".
She said: "Zabair had lost his way in life, but did not deserve to die in this way - nobody should have to endure the way his life was taken."
Det Ch Insp Steve Handley said: "The witnesses we have spoken to so far report seeing a group of Asian men assaulting Mr Hussain with what are believed to be baseball bats.
"His injuries were incredibly severe and ultimately fatal."
A 30-year-old man held on suspicion of murder remains in custody for questioning and a 28-year-old man also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.
A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has also been released on bail.
