Barnsley car crash: Girl, 4, suffers life threatening injuries

A four-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy have been seriously injured in a collision between three cars in Barnsley.

Eight people in total were injured in the incident on Barnsley Road in Hoylandswaine at 17:45 GMT on Monday.

Police said a silver Vauxhall Corsa collided with a Peugeot 107 which then hit a Ford Mondeo.

The girl, who was in the Corsa, suffered life threatening injuries. The boy was also in the Corsa.

A passenger in the Peugeot, a 49-year-old man from Barnsley, also suffered life-threatening injuries and is in a critical condition in hospital.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
