IPCC find no misconduct by South Yorkshire Police over fatal fire

An investigation by the police watchdog into how officers dealt with a Rotherham man the day before he died in a fire, has found no misconduct.

Robert Walton was visited in Dinnington, Rotherham, by South Yorkshire Police in 2015 after a claim he made a threat to harm himself.

Mr Walton was found dead following a fire at his home the next day.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said officers had acted appropriately with the information.
