A retired music teacher has been named as one of three women killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a car and a van.

Barbara Twigg, 66, from Doncaster, was in a Toyota Aygo when it was in collision with two vehicles on Tickhill Road, Maltby, on Thursday.

Diana Hunt, 58, from Hatfield, who was driving the car was also killed. The third woman in the Aygo, has not been named.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Mrs Twigg's family said: "Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was taken from us prematurely.

"Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

"Mum was a talented musician and teacher, and recently retired from running the Yamaha Music School in Doncaster where she also had many students."

South Yorkshire Police said the crash involved a black Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction to the Aygo and a van leaving Maltby Colliery.

The 28-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the van was not injured.
