Doncaster man jailed for defrauding dying grandfather

A man has been jailed for defrauding his dying grandfather out of £50,000.

Kevin North abused his position as power of attorney and "frittered away" money belonging to Norman Chipman, 84.

Police said North was made trustee of his grandfather's estate before his death in 2011 and did not leave enough cash to pay for his funeral.

The 31-year-old, of Tennyson Avenue, Doncaster, had admitted fraud by abuse of position at Sheffield Crown Court and was jailed for 40 months.
