South Yorkshire Police officer denies underage sex

A South Yorkshire Police officer has denied causing a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

Daniel Cookson, 29, who was based in Rotherham before his arrest and subsequent suspension in November, is due to stand trial at Sheffield Crown Court on 11 May.

He appeared at the same court earlier and entered a not guilty plea before being released on bail.

The offence allegedly occurred between March and November 2013.
