Doncaster assault: Charge after man critically injured

A 19-year-old man has been charged after an assault in Doncaster left a man with "life-threatening injuries".

The 23-year-old, who has not been named by police, was attacked near a supermarket in the town centre between North Bridge and Church View at about 12:00 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Lewys Mitchell Henfrey, of Top Road, Barnby Dun, is due before Doncaster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

He has been charged with Section 18 wounding.

Another 19-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of assault, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
