Rotherham United hold open top bus promotion parade
Rotherham United have celebrated winning promotion to the Championship by holding an open top bus parade.
The Millers secured promotion by beating Leyton Orient 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.
The parade left the club's New York Stadium just before 18:00 BST before travelling to All Saints Square where about 3-4,000 fans had congregated.
A civic reception was then held for the club at Rotherham Town Hall.
Rotherham, who came from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Leyton Orient, have now won successive promotions, having won automatic promotion from League Two last season.
Taking part in the celebrations in the town centre, Royce, a lifelong Rotherham United fan, said he wanted to give the team "a good send-off" to the Championship.
"On Sunday, it was an absolutely fantastic day for everybody - not just for us but for everyone in Rotherham.
"Everybody in the town should be proud. This team has put us back on the map."
Another fan, Sarah, said there was a "brilliant" atmosphere in Rotherham following the club's promotion.
"Next stop the Premiership. It might not seem real, but a couple of seasons and we'll definitely be up there," she said.
