Stolen goods worth more than £3m, including a crane valued at £150,000, has been recovered in South Yorkshire in the last three months.

Fishing tackle, quad bikes and building materials are among the more unusual items seized, police said.

Officers in Doncaster impounded two stolen HGVs in December, including one carrying the crane.

Chief Inspector Iain Chorlton of South Yorkshire Police said more than 1,000 arrests had been made since October.

Pedal cycles, computers, jewellery, tools, golfing equipment, a VW transporter and a tipper truck were also recovered in Rotherham, police said.

The haul, which dates from October, is worth an estimated £3,017,629, police said.
