Hundreds of mourners have gathered in Rotherham for the funeral of a shopkeeper from South Yorkshire who was killed in a machete attack.

Parvaiz Iqbal, 40, was found dead at his shop on Grosvenor Road, Rotherham, on 15 October.

He had suffered multiple stab wounds. Another 40-year-old man was also seriously injured.

One mourner said the large turnout at the ceremony reflected Mr Iqbal's popularity in the local community.

"He was the best you could ever want", he said.

"Best friend, best brother, best thing everywhere. A great, great loss to everyone here."

Naeem Mahmood, 27, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, Rotherham has been charged with his murder.
