Doncaster academies receive funding for improvements

Three academies in Doncaster have been awarded government funding to help pay for improvements.

Outwood Academy Adwick will receive £16m and De Warenne Academy £10m for building work.

Rossington All Saints School will benefit from investment in their information technology infrastructure.

Mayor of Doncaster, Peter Davies, said he was "delighted" with the news as education was vital for the "future of Doncaster's next generation".

'Future possibilities'

De Warenne's Principal, Gill Pollard, said: "It provides the opportunity to transform our academy and improve the learning opportunities for the young people of Conisbrough and Denaby."

Michael Wilkins, chief executive and academy principal for Outwood Grange Academies Trust, said the community should be "excited about the possibilities" the development would bring.

It is hoped the building projects at Outwood Academy Adwick and De Warenne Academies will be started at the end of 2011 and completed in early 2013.
