Eight-year-old boy hurt by runaway lorry in Conisbrough

An eight-year-old boy was injured when a lorry rolled down a road and pinned him against a wall.

The boy was airlifted to hospital after the flatbed lorry parked on Elm Green Lane in Conisbrough rolled down Station Road and struck him.

He suffered a fractured pelvis in the incident on Monday and is in a stable condition in hospital.

South Yorkshire Police said the lorry was being examined to see if there was a fault with its brakes.

Pc Steven Zielinski from the force's road policing group, said: "This was an unfortunate accident that resulted in injury to a young boy.

"The driver of the lorry is extremely upset by the events and is co-operating with the police to try and establish the cause of the accident."
