Man charged with attempted murder after Rotherham fire

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a fire at a Rotherham flat in which another man was injured.

The 48-year-old man has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life following the fire at the flat in Rawmarsh Hill on Friday.

He appeared at Rotherham Magistrates' Court on Monday and will next appear at crown court on 20 September.

The 36-year-old man who was found injured outside the building is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police appealed for anyone who saw the fire start, or saw anyone acting suspiciously, to contact them.
