A blaze at a disused cinema is believed by fire crews to have been started deliberately.

Crews from Tisbury, Trowbridge and Warminster were called to tackle the fire at the Westway Cinema in the centre of Frome in Somerset.

The blaze was discovered on the first floor of the cinema in the early hours of Sunday.

The cinema is in the process of being refurbished after closing earlier this year.

In a statement, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Initial fire investigation work is now complete, and will be continued during daylight hours with assistance from the police.

"At this time the fire is believed to have been started deliberately."
